ANDY TEAGUE NECK INJURY

Lancaster and Mossley had to settle for a share of the points from a game that will probably only be remembered for a 20 minute delay towards the end of the first half following a goalmouth incident that left Lancaster’s centre half Andrew Teague with a suspected injury to his neck that fortunately appears to have been not quite as serious as had been first thought.

 

Mossley came close to taking the lead after 5 minutes when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball looping towards the home side’s net, but goalkeeper Mark Thornley was able to acrobatically push it away from danger.

 

Lancaster came close themselves after 24 minutes when a good cross from Danny Mahoney found the head of Lee Dodgson but the ball having looped over the goalkeeper also cleared the crossbar.

 

Both goalkeepers made good saves in the last few moments of the first half following the lengthy stoppage with first Thornley denying Mossley’s Alex Mortimer and then James Mann keeping out a shot from Paul Osborne.

 

Mann was to produce an outstanding save to keep Mossley level on the hour mark somehow managing to deflect a point blank header from Osborne onto the crossbar.

 

Lancaster came close to snatching a winner after 78 minutes when Mann came outside his area but was unable to clear the ball and Mark Jackson looped a shot towards goal but Nick Boothby had managed to get back to clear the ball off the line.
