City never adapted to the plastic pitch at Woodley Sports and soon went down to a fourth minute goal by Matt Cotton. With three players constantly marking Dodgson out of the game. The blues only decent attempt at goal in the first-half was with a glancing header by Jackson in the 44th minute that went narrowly wide of Connett's goal.
Lancaster applied the pressure to reduce the arrears but it was the home sides leading goal scorer Gavin Salmon finding the net to double the home sides lead on 57 minutes.
On 71 mins Jackson blasted in his 16th goal of the season after the ball had bounced between a ruck of players.
A double substitution was made with 15 mins to go when City new signing Sean Paterson and Aaron Helliwell were replaced by Alan Coar and Dominic Ward. But they also could not penetrate the home goal. With the game in is final moments Coar headed over the bar from close range.
