Lancaster City 1 - Rossendale United 0:
CITY MOVE UP TO THIRD
Lancaster secured their first win in five League games with a hard fought victory that put them back on track near the top of the Unibond First Division North
The first half produced few real chances with Mark Thornley making a good save to deny Rossendale’s Marcus Calvert and Lee Dodgson firing Lancaster’s best chance over from a free kick.
Dodgson, returning after an injured shoulder, set Lancaster up in the opening ten minutes of the second half when he first made a good run and cross but Mark Jackson was unable to find the back of the net and then played an excellent through ball a couple of minutes for substitute Alan Coar to run onto and fire past Ben Proctor into the net.
Jackson should have settled the game for Lancaster after 79 minutes but headed wide from in front of goal and the home side were almost pulled level a minute later when Zach Clark forced a save from Thornley.
Rossendale’s chances were not helped when Calvert was sent of with four minutes remaining for a second bookable offence and Lancaster were able to play out the remaining time to secure the three points.
