Barrow 1 - LANCASTER CITY  4:

CITY STROLL IN THE DEMOLITION DERBY

Super-charged Lancaster City made it a maximum return from their festive programme as ex-boss Phil Wilson was left staring in disbelief thanks to a stunning display at Barrow.
Wilson walked out on City in favour of Holker Street and his first league match was the Boxing Day derby at Giant Axe.
City outclassed Barrow then in a 3-0 stroll – and yesterday was even more comprehensive as Peter Ward's charges made
Wilson's men look more like a Sunday league side than a Conference North outfit.
City started well with a high tempo and silenced the bumper Holker Street crowd on nine minutes when the impressive Mike Eckersley opened up the Barrow defence with a slide-rule pass to Andy Bond.
Bond has missed two successive penalties, but you would stake a big mortgage on him beating a keeper from open play in a one-on-one situation.
And Simon Bishop was helpless to keep out Bond's cool finish for 1-0.
That shocked Barrow into a short spell of pressure as Gavin Knight shot over, while Wilson's son Kyle was also off target.
But City showed them how to finish with a stunning goal on 23 minutes as Ryan Elderton found Neil Uberschar on the right. He in turn fed Steve Skinner who played a one-two with Bond before crossing to Eckersley at the back post.
Instead of shooting, Eckersley rolled the ball back to Alex
Taylor who slammed home the second.
It was a classy goal and Taylor was an ace away from another two minutes later when Bishop somehow clawed his volley to safety, while Tom Pope was also denied by a sprawling save.
At the other end, Knight acrobatically volleyed over, but City keeper Tony McMillan was
restricted to the routine duties of fielding back passes and kicking as his side finished the half strongly.
And the second period saw Barrow huff and puff but it was City who went 3-0 up when Bond's magnificent free-kick was spilled by Bishop and Joe McMahon was there to pick up the pieces for 3-0.
There was a moment of solace for Barrow when Guy Heffernan converted a harshly awarded penalty 12 minutes from time, but that mattered little as City still had one last bit of class up their sleeve.
Tony Sullivan won the ball in midfield and turned to free Pope. The big striker galloped clear and finished stunningly for 4-1.
It was simple but effective, and Wilson and his assistant Gary Bauress stormed down the tunnel in disbelief.

Referee: S Pettman.
Attendance: 1,301.
